2 prong asian style plug to 2 prong UK style plug

Hi, I bought a digital camera in Singapore recently and upon returning to the UK I noticed that it had an Asian style 2 prong plug. Rather naively, I snipped the plug off hoping I could just connect the wires to a 3 prong UK plug. But I found the cables were not normal eclectic cables and were more like shielded RCA leads.

Of course, I've now snipped the plug off, so a converter is out of the question. Have I got any alternatives other than paying a fortune to the manufacturer for a replacement UK plug and lead?

Cheers,

Steve

The 'plug' you snipped off may well have been the whole power supply...!

join the plug back on?

it seems strange that RCA style leads would be used used for mains power is there a transformer inside the blug body?

if your camera still works take some photos of the damaged parts and pos them in alt.binaries.electronics.schematics

Thanks everyone for all your answers. I eventually purchased a universal charger from Jessops for £10.

Thanks aga>> Hi,
