Zilog Buys Microcontroller Product Lines from Samsung Electronics

Zilog (an IXYS company) has purchased a series of 8-bit microcontroller product lines, along with one 4-bit product line, from Samsung Electronics.

Article shows a breakdown of the product lines. Curiously, one of them is Z8 compatible.

This puts Zilog back in the fight!

Close, but the buyer is actually IXYS, the parent company.

compatible.

and there is also a 8051 product line too, to join Zilog's other Korean-based family, the Z51F series.

Time will tell, right now, it seems IXYS forgot to tell anyone over in their division at

? Perhaps those a Zilog are worried if the tail will wag the dog ?
