USB OTG and Battery Charging ...

I have a working design that has a USB (1.1) client interface and uses the USB 5V supplied by the Host PC to re-charge internal Li-Ion batteries.

I am now considering upgrading the device to USB OTG. My processor is capable of this - when equipped with an external Charge pump (e.g. AAT3125).

My question is, can I still use externally supplied USB 5V (on Vbus) to charge internal batteries, given that one of the requirements of USB OTG is to be able to "pulse" Vbus ? It seems to me there is a conflict here although many devices must now have this functionality ?
