CFI Flash question

Dec 23, 2006 1 Replies

Hi,

I am new to the CFI Interface. I have a question about the the command to enter CFI mode. It is write 98h to address 55h. So 98h should never be written to Addr. 55h if you do not want to enter CFI mode? How this can be excluded?

Thanks

Steven

There is no problem, because you'd never write individual data bytes to a flash device.

When programming the flash, or performing one of its other supported commands, you always write some well-defined command sequence. The command to enter CFI mode is just one of those sequences, and they are all different.
