ARM device chart

I am preparing a summary chart of most of the ARM MCUs. This is a larger task than I would like. If anyone would like to assist, visit the web site at

on the resources page under the ARM Chips heading and click the link to the device comparison chart. I have filled in data for the Analog Devices parts and the Philips LPC2xxx parts. Both of these sections can use an accuracy check and there is some data missing. In particular, the Philips data was pulled from a summary table and it seems to have a number of errors.

Or if you would like, pick one of the other vendors and fill in the data. TI would not be too hard since they only have about 8 or so chips. The Atmel devices should not be a hard job since I only want to list the SAM7 parts, maybe the SAM9 as well. OKI may be hard to pull all the data together from their web page and data sheets, but they don't have a lot of parts either. I don't know much about the ST Micro parts, but they seem to have as many as the Atmel SAM7 or TI I believe.

I hope these data can be useful to others. I figured if I were going to do it for myself I would share it. It seems wasteful to have everyone duplicate studies like this.

I guess to avoid duplication you should post here before starting any of the empty sections. No point in doing something that someone else may be doing as well.

Loading thread data ...

I just added data on the TI ARM MCUs today and will be working on the Atmel parts next followed by the OKI parts. This will include these manufacturers...

Analog Devices Atmel Freescale OKI Philips ST Micro TI

What other makers of MCUs with on-die flash and RAM are there? I guess I prefer to leave out the also-ran players so that the chart does not get too cluttered up. I know Hynix makes a pretty lame part that is second sourced in a wider temperature range by Aeroflex. I don't know if I'll bother to include that one.

Hmm. Where is that chart located, again? Did you move the link?

The chart mostly just covers the ARM7 parts that are available with internal Flash, RAM and peripherals. I have included parts without flash when they are part of a family that also has parts with flash. I have included ARM9 parts when the family includes flash parts like the OKI parts.

You will find the chart at

on the resources page under the ARM Chips heading and click the link to the device comparison chart. I have added a couple of PDF files that can be viewed offline or printed onto 11x17 paper.

I forgot to ask if anyone would like to help with the HTML page generation. I use Firefox and formatted the page to display correctly. But it does not seem to work right in IE. I have not tried it with Netscape or any of the other browsers. The HTML code is being generated directly from Excel, so it is fairly messy. I have split it into two parts so that the header will display while you scroll the chart. But if you have to scroll horizontally, it does not stay aligned. That was another reason for making the PDF files.

The timers column seems to be to c*ck in Firefox. And there's nothing about Ethernet MAC! But otherwise excellent.

I used a google-cached version yesterday to find the link. The web page itself, the resources page refreshed repeatedly in IE by me, didn't show it. Now, looking again this morning, it's there again. So... I'm okay, I guess.

Thanks, Jon

I'm not sure what you mean about the timers column. I did a sanity check in Firefox when I last updated it on Sunday, I believe. It seemed to view correctly to me in both Firefox and IE, but I can't check it right now in Firefox. I am not allowed to use Firefox here, so I will have to wait until I get back to double check it.

What exactly do you see wrong with the timers column?

I didn't add a separate column for Ethernet since there are so few MCU parts that include it. But if you do a search for Ethernet on the web page you will find that I made special notes for the parts that support it.

I may separate the the serial I/O column into different columns. But I will need to orient the label text sideways to keep the chart easily viewable.

I still have not heard from anyone about how to make the labels work in both Firefox and IE.

You have the LPC2194 as "Discont". I've check with Phillips and AvNet and neither of them know that the part is discontinued?

The LPC2194 also has a -40+125 temp range like the LPC2294.

Is your info on the LPC2194 correct?

Thanks for your comments. You are correct in that I started each section of the chart using data from a summary page when I could find one. But this was always from the manufacturer, not a third party. I then filled in the holes in the data from the data sheets, but I did not verify the data from their table. So if they had mistakes in their data tables, there will be mistakes here.

I rechecked the Philips web site and I can't find any indication that this part is discontinued. I know I saw that some where in a summary page of three or four parts, but I can't find that page. The page for this part clearly says it is available and lists a price, so I will update it in the chart.
