Till now embedded systems require a combined knowledge in Analog, Digital, Software, Communication, perhaps RF, perhaps system control theory, plus a few more fields. Plus talking to customers and manufacturers. You don't really expect to become MASTER within a short course ? If there was such a course and title, it'd bogus. Prepare to spend from 10 years upwards on the subject.

It's just a name; Bachelor, Masters, Doctorate.
They have MBA's (Masters of Business Admin) in 1 year, why not a short course in embedded systems?
Al
And yet it projects claims. Claims to have mastered the subject, while a doctorate claims to be super-specialist in one field. Since embedded systems are very broad range, even a doctorate is not fitting at all.
not a short course in embedded systems?
As could have been observed, the MBAs are crap. Since the economy is lead by MBAs, it has gone downhill. Massively overpaid idiots doing trivial errors that could be avoided by minimal thinking.

Any clues as to which country you might be in - or wanting to study in?
Why not indeed? I find most college degrees to be checkbox requirements for the hiring managers of organizations overcome with process.
Once some HR folks start asking for an MS in embedded engineering, some for-profit university will offer it. Hooray for free enterprise. Caveat Emptor.

It seems like people only get MBAs so they can avoid doing real work. As far as a Maasters of Science in embedded systems goes, I think a BS in Electrical Engineering with a Masters in Computer Engineering, or maybe Computer Science could get you started. To ever really be a "Master" you need actually build many embedded systems.
i had a bachelor of engineering degree in integrated circuits, worked for three years, and I intend to study in UK. I need either a M.Sc or Married to get me off this Bachelor title. :P
Thanks.
Get married. It's a better investment of time.
But way more expensive, esp. if you change your mind. :-)
The University of Washington offers a certificate program in Embedded and Real-Time Programming. It's the only university program I know of, of any type, specifically for Embedded/Real-time (which doesn't imply my knowledge is complete!).
Also offered online.
