MULTICHANNELDESIGNINPROTEL 99 This 'feature' took me a quite while to find out. You cannot find it in protel help, as 99 officially doesn't support multichannel design. To make multiple channels, make this:

a.. make a schematic, unfortunately at this stage schematic must consist of every channel you want to use. What means, that if you have three channels, you have to make the same schematic into three separate sheets. Then you make one master sheet, where you connect each channel to the desired stuff. b.. once you have every channel on separate sheet, make a new annotation. This time use advanced annotation and select for every channel the same number range, but different prefix. This will make channels for example like: R100A, R100B, R100C for the same resistance over different channels c.. make all schematic, create a netlist and import the netlist into the board. d.. once imported, route just one channel of your design, for example everything what ends with a suffix A. e.. once it is done now you have to delete the components from another channel. Make it as follows: click on any component to make the properties dialog appear. Now press global, in attributes to match field designator put

*B if you want to select channel B. Then click on copy attributes selection toggle flag and once more in basic view on selection toggle. By pressing ok it selects every component matching *B prefix. f.. delete the components selected by pressing Ctrl-del. this will remove all the components from channel B. g.. now select the channel what you've already routed. Everything, including components and nets. h.. Edit-Copy i.. Edit-Paste and put what he wants to paste somewhere j.. save the board (File-Save) k.. go to schematic and make Design-UpdatePCB. This will come out with sort of dialog box. Check following boxes: Assign net to connected copper, Update components footprints and delete components. l.. click preview changes. This should show you after few seconds the dialog box with unmatched components. These you have to match manually, but as the numbering is almost the same, you can simply accept what he offers m.. execute button will do the job If you do like this, you will make one additional channel which is identical to the first channel you've routed. Repeat action as many times as necessary to get the desired number of channels.
