What does "232" in RS-232 stands for?

Out of curioisty does someone know what does 232 stands for in RS-232. RS = Recommonded Standard.

It was probably pulled out of the pile and tagged right after RS-231 and just before RS-233.

It was a purely numerical sequence, but later standards such as 423,422 and 485 where designed to have numerical familiarity ;-)
