I hope she'll recover well Jim. Maybe it's time for handrails, etc.

Paul has retired, to ease up a bit and to work on the book(s). I still have my fulltime Rowland EE Lab management engineering job, but I can divert some work time for the book. It's a Rowland Institute / Harvard publication, after all, in the standard academic fashion. Lately I've been burying myself in various interesting Rowland Institute projects.

Thanks Win!

I hope everyone had a happy break. I'm still on vacation, but that's the way we Aussies roll at Xmas.

Get a 4 wheel waker that has a seat. Mom uses one and it is great. She can wheel up to the table, lock it, and sit down. She also uses the seat to carry items as she moves around the house.

Get a toilet riser, not one of the elevated seats but a riser for the actual tolet. The toilet mounts on this using long extension bolts. I tried to find where I got the one for Mom's house but no luck yet. Much more sanitary than the seat risers you have to constantly clean.

And of course, hand rails for the walk in shower. Bed, Bath and Beyond (I think) has metal stools for the shower. Very helpful also.

"N" is recovering rapidly now that she's home. I have a fancy walker from my hip-joint replacement 8-years ago and she's doing fine with that.

I needed an elevated seat for a few weeks after the hip replacement surgery, but "N" is doing fine with the regular fixture.

I do plan to add some safety bars for the potty area and the shower:

You should try one of those vertical poles, it's just enough support to keep one steady. I have one in plans for the mother.

Hope your wife recovers, back injuries are not fun.

Cheers

My mother had one of those and before that, a walker with front wheels and replaceable PTFE skids on the back. Both worked great. When she got tired, she just spun it around and sat down. It made her much more confident when she went out in public.

Hand rails should be professionally installed. I'm sure many of us could do it but I've seen a lot botched, causing damage to the walls or *much* worse.

She's doing pretty good... she's stubborn and tenacious and self-assured... after all, she married me just shy of 56 years ago ;-) ...Jim Thompson
