Where to buy: Ultrasonic development kit (distance) ?

Hi all,

I'm looking to learn the basics (and not so basics) of ultrasonic transducers and their applications. Specific applications are distance and may be level measurements. This last one seems to be a special case of the first one. I've also seen ultrasonic flow meters. This may be an advance topic but sounds interesting.

I'd really like a development kit I could buy (

Hello Rodo,

Try to find an older ultrasonic distance meter at a yard sale or thrift store. The early ones had the interesting circuitry all in discrete parts. Should be excellent for learning. The other $495 would buy quite a few crates of pale ale ;-)

There are very few books about ultrasound. I design for medical ultrasound since the 80's and the first 10 years or so I did not own one lone book about it. Then I found Kjell Kristoffersen's Doppler book but I really only bought it because this stuff goes out of print fast and I knew him personally.

Regards, Joerg
