Video Presentation

Slightly OT. We need an add-on to our Church video presentation setup (PC w/ Radeon

7200 Graphics Card).

Specifically, we want to be able to rent out the auditorium to folks who occasionally want to run their own PowerPoint presentations, etc... on the large projector. Unfortunately, the setup is not very "adaptable", and we contantly have to park someone in the booth to run the presentation....

Right now, the projector is cabled directly to our MultiMedia PC, which only runs the Sunday Plus software. We don't want to make any changes to that computer.

The video output of the Sunday Plus PC is a standard 15-pin. The other end of this goes straight to the projector, through a couple hundred feet of cable. While there are other inputs on the projector, it is high up in the ceiling and would be very expensive to cable, not to mention, we really don't want to have to switch projector inputs with the remote (because it is confusing, and someday it will get in the wrong mode with no-one around who knows how to switch it back to the Sunday Plus input...)

So, with that: Here's what we ideally want: A box (transmitter) that can sit on stage (under the podium?) that will send the video (i.e., PowerPoint presentation off a laptop or ??) wirelessly back up to the light and sound booth.

In the booth, a matching wireless receiver, and a mechanical switch to switch from "Podium" to "Sunday Plus" outputs to the large projector.

Can anyone recommend some rock-solid hardware for this?? Simplicity and Ease of Use are more important than dollars (within reason).

I am open to any alternatives which would yield similar results. What I'm trying to avoid is having to do anything to the Sunday Plus system. As out of date and horrible as that system is, it does in fact get the job done. And all of our volunteers (many of whom are not technical) know how to use it. So, I really don't want to open that hood.

If this can be kept as 2 separate systems, which only share the projector input cable - that would be ideal.

Thanks.

Hmmm... Haven't seen too many wireless video (computer!) senders, but there are lots of control systems out there, such as wireless mice, etc.

Maybe, invest in a cheap mini-desktop computer that only runs powerpoint, and run the control of it via wireless keyboard and mouse to the podium. then, just a single video switch in the control room cuts between them to the projector.
