I was thinking something more complicated with a software controlled signal to switch in the resistor etc. Your way does it all automatically and with the one signal, neat. As you say, "dual slope" integration.

I guess the circuit is not that all that "accurate" though. The unknown, variable switch resistance is in series with the RTD.

Parallel all 4 sections of the 'HC4066, and you get 10-12 Ohms... that's 0.1% against RT = 10K... that's pretty respectable, isn't it

Probably a bad move on your part since the money you will have lost by not signing on at an earlier age isn't likely to be made up by the difference in the two amounts over the long term. Also, since you say you don't need it right now, you could have invested it - in a savings account, even - and had it working for you until you needed it.

As I've noted here before... be careful of the delayed pay-out scam, run the numbers. I did, and found that delayed SS pay-out from 65 to

Depends on how long one survives. The insurance companies calculate the numbers based on survival rates calculated over the population as a whole. People with higher degrees live about ten years longer than their less-educated age-contemporaries.

The pension rates go up by about 50% if you wait five years. I'd need to get 8.5% per year appreciation to match that.

Personally, nothing - except the usual deferred income which I could have earned if I'd got a real job rather than hanging around university after getting my bachelors degree.

I had an Australian Commonwealth Scholarship that paid my tution fees as an undergraduate, and the usual post-graduate research grants after than. The Australian government handed out a lot of Commonwealth Scholarships at that time - most undergraduates got one.

If your parents were poor enough, or if you could demonstrate that you'd supported yourself for three years (as one of my nephews did, much to his - rich - father's amusement) you'd also get a living allowance. My parents had quite enough money to pay my living costs until I'd got the undergraduate degree, but after that the research grant covered both tution and living costs - at about half the level I jave earned if I had been working in industry.

My wife's parents weren't as well off (though too well off to let her collect a living allowance) and she had to reject her Commonwealth Scholarship and take an Education Department studentship, which you paid off by teaching for three years after you graduate. She was good enough that she could pay that off by teaching at university while she did a part-time master's degree

A tensor is just an ordered tuple. Most of us just call them vectors. What your little collection of catagories imply I neither know nor care. Probably not. I never went in for pretentious bullshit - my preference was more to call a spade a bloody shovel - and my preferred hypothesis makes me unemployable because I'm 67. My various personality defects didn't render me unemployable when I was younger and even more obnoxious, so they probably aren't a problem now.

In my dialect, your brothers are male people with whom you share a common father or mother - usually both. More distant relatives are cousins and second cousins.

I certainly accept that we all evolved from a small pool of common ancestors - probably a single tribe of about a hundred people - and are consequently distant cousins. Martin Brown isn't a close enough relative that I'd know him through family connections, which is the usual meaning of the word "related".

I doubt if they are going to do any worse that the non-government institution that looks after my professional earning-related pension funds. My Australian investment advisor would probably do a better job per dollar that he got to invest, but not after you've figured in the tax advantages the pension funds get.

Not bad. The RTDs I have worked with were usually 100 ohms which would have been pretty disastrous! There were a few 1k types too.

You could just junk the switch altogether and let the micro do a slightly more complicated calculation on the mark/space ratio. If we charge through Rt+Rref, and discharge through Rref, then Ton/Toff = (Rt+Rref)/Rref. So Rt = Rref(Ton/Toff-1). In other words just the standard 555 oscillator circuit with Rref and Rt as the two timing resistors.
