while servicing my TDS-3034 I have noticed that there seem to be no hardware difference between mainbords in different models of Tek's
All models seem to have the same components annd there is no small EEPROM or somesuch device through which each scope would know its model.
It seems that this is written somewhere in main FLASH chip on board and that by reflashing it one could gain extra bandwidth and capabilities...
Update the firmware? I updated my DPO to latest release, but I didn't try hacking the firmware uploader to accept a different model number.
Firmware's on only four floppys.
Where might I download a service or technical manual for a tds-3034?

Four floppies are plenty, when you arre chasing around assembly code... I don't think that probability of success justifies any substantial effort.
I would be willing to unsolder FLASH chip and reprogram it with 3054's data, anything more seems like a waste of time...
