What a goofy web site.

"Goofy" is a rather imprecise criticism.

planned on selling cylindrical solar cells. It started deploying demonstration system from 2006 and filed for bankruptcy in 2011.

It went bankrupt because the price of polysilicon dropped 89% between

2009 and mid-2011 as the Chinese improved the Siemens process.

Solar cells clearly don't have to be flat, and anybody who thinks that this was ever any kind of rule has to be nuts.

I don't think that anybody has ever made much money out of solar cells which weren't flat, but that's just practical experience rather than any kind of rule.

"Nuts" is a rather imprecise criticism.

I was criticising the specific proposition that there is any kind of rule that solar cells have to be flat, with a counter-example, so it was still a much more specific criticism than the one you posted.
