The STGP10N50A igbt in ST's app note is rated at 500V, and they've used a 376V transient suppressor to protect it from spikes. 376V is the leakage-current test voltage for 440V 1500-watt TVS diodes, 1.5KE440CA, etc., so I imaging that's what they're referring to...
