Please help with component Identification

I'm 99% certain the red thinggie is not a MOV but a thermistor. It has markings "Sincera 8R0M", I have removed it from the PCB and at room temperature it has a low resistance of 8 Ohm, when hot (left on heater for a while) i measured it at 80 Ohm's. So..i don't think the R & Z designators are switched because using a "Z" designator for a thermistor would be very odd. I'm certain Z801 is the correct designator for the mystery component.

Do you have a datasheet or URL to find further information? I did a search and found a couple of TV service manuals which appear to use such a device but no useful information.Who manufacturers that component? The manual was for a Toshiba but i couldn't find the component on Toshiba's semiconductor site. Thanks..Stan

You could be right, i will look into this. Thanks

The manufacturer is General Semiconductor.

It's a suppressor diode made by General Semiconductor, they got bought out by Vishay. I doubt they make it anymore though.

you could try substituting one of these trans-zorbs by Vishay...
