I just flag all messages from that server, and see KILLFILE at the start of the subject line. I drop them on most newsgroups, but there are a few here that I do want to see. I've used all 100 entries in Newsproxy, and need to recompile it for 1000 entries because of the 'Skippys' with multiple troll nyms. it would be simpler if Giganews gave full headers, without downloading the messages. I've looked at some software for a local news server but I haven't felt up to setting one up. I have five spare server grade computers, at the moment so the hardware is no problem. :)

I'm not so sure about that. I do own (and use) a couple of field- hockey sticks, and they would trump a cap- or water-pistol.

A hockey stick isn't much use indoors, but it's heavy enough to break a jaw or a forearm on a full swing.

It's not like a news server for a single user needs any special hardware if you can wear the extra bandwidth in case of a disaster you only need to backup the configursation settings.

I started out with "sn" but changed to "inn (1.x)" after about 6 months.

not having a real news feed I need to run something like "suck", I use a homebrew analogue for historical reasons.
