PICkit 2 vs icd2 programmer/debugger

Oct 20, 2007 0 Replies

im planning to buy a programmer/debugger for my simple to complex, no- commercial to commercial PIC micro controller projects. when searched the net i found two debuggers from microchip called PICkit 2, which costs $50 and ICD 2, which costs $150. from the documentation i dont see that much of a difference in these two products. So im wondering about the price difference and would like to hear from people having good experiences with these devices with regard to;

1) supported chips'
2) integration with other tools
3) features in debugging
4) speed/performance during programming, debugging
5) reliability
6) usability
7) package contents

thank you.
