OT: Carrot on a stick.

I hear politicians speechifying about the "Carrot and stick" way of getting people to do stuff by the reward-punishment system.

They're wrong. The original phrase is "carrot on a stick" illustrated here:

They dangle the prize in front of your nose, and the closer you get to it, the farther away it gets - this is how they get the sheeple to do their bidding until they drop from exhaustion. (or let themselves be taxed into slavery.)
