orcad layer preview problem

May 04, 2006 1 Replies

hi, i've developed a PCB with two layers(top and bottom). after it is done, when i try to preview the top layer, it shows the full PCB(all layers plus components and all), not only the top layer tracks and pads. Other layers work normally.

can anyone guess the problem?

Your starting template is most likely buggered. You need to read the manual about controlling which layers are visible when doing previews. It is not obvious.

In short, preview the layer. Use the colors spreadsheet to turn layers on and off. You can use the colors spreadsheet to add additional layers if needed. Go back to the Post Process spreadsheet (Window|Post Process) and right click. On the drop down menu, select Save Colors. When going back to the Post Process spreadsheet, do NOT use Options|Post Process Settings or your color changes will be reset.
