Guidepoint - a stolen vehicle recovery, driver safety telematics product supplier - sold through finance departments at new-car dealerships in the United States and Mexico, has launched a new service that lets drivers track and control their vehicles with a cell phone, BlackBerry or other Web-enabled wireless device. The Pontiac, Michigan-based Company said it has created a wireless access protocol (WAP) version of Guidepoint that allows subscribers to track their vehicle, unlock doors, start the engine and honk the horn with a wireless device or cell phone. Says Guidepoint CEO Rand Mueller: "We developed the WAP functionality to give our subscribers more choices, now, Guidepoint users can track and control their vehicles over the Web with a PC, laptop, cell phone, mobile device or by simply calling our 24/7/365 response center and speaking to a Guidepoint Personal Assistant."
