is the attraction in static electricity caused by the magnetic component

Hi folks

here is another question about static electricity.

Some statically charged materials attract other materials. Is this attraction caused by the magnetic component in electromagnetic fields?

Thanks in advance,

No, it is caused by polarization. If you take something that is statically charged and move it close to something else that has mobile electrons, those electrons will be repelled away creating a positive region which attracts the electrons. Both negatively charged regions are attracted by the and to the positive region.

Magnetic fields are an observable effect from electricity and not the other way around.
