How do I differentiate between the E and B pins of a TO-3 case power transistor? 2N3055 if I remember correctly. Thanks.

I believe the "standard" is:

Hold device so a line _between_ the pins is horizontal, and that line is above the center-line of the package, then read, left-to-right, B-E

How do I differentiate between the FIVE copies of your post I've received time stamped between 20:38 and 20:53?

Ruling out referring to the time-stamp as too easy, did he use different coloured inks?

The good news is that nothing is compulsory.
The bad news is that everything is prohibited.

Perhaps you should send a complaint to snipped-for-privacy@google.com? Maybe they know how to tell all these posts apart. ;-)

Mark,

You type "2N3055" into Google search and look over the results. Choose one that seems OK and you'll get more useful information as well as the pin out. ......i.e.:

How did you manage to get a 2955 datasheet when you googled 3055 ?

Just curious.

p.s. The OP could even go to onsemi.com and get the genuine 'motorola' data sheet.
