how the heck to make a layout for microsmd bump package

Jun 01, 2006 1 Replies

I am trying to make a prototype of a device which uses nationals LM4921 stereo dac/amp and it only comes in "MICROSMD" which is this tiny little bump package. I am well versed in the wonders of hand soldering soic and ssop packages, but I have no idea how to do this one. Maybe a reflow air pencil? And what do I draw for the layout in PCAD? They mention an eval board in the datasheet but its not in nationals store. :(

Google for "reflow toaster" or "reflow skillet".

A quick peek at the PDF spec reveals a recommended land pattern on the last page.
