Would it be possible, like with those old rub-on decals, to somehow, magically, transfer the film from its snugly ceramic substrate home onto a different surface? Suppose it's optically flat ferrite. Could you put some magical glue on the ferrite, plop the sensor film-down, apply heat or incantations, and presto! The film is now on the ferrite? And of course, the ceramic just fall off on its own.
Maybe a little lapping on the ceramic-side of the film.
