Filter Question! How to get rid of SPIKES!

I have a 60Hz AC voltage comming from a transformer 120/220V that powers some cooling fans, but it's got some spikes at the output, and Im having problems with that. The spikes are burning the fans.

** What exactly is burning ?

The brushes in the fan motors ?

Here is the link of the wave form:

** Looks like commutation noise spikes from a brush ( AC/DC ) motor.

** Not even close.

I Does anybody have an idea of what type of filter would be more appropriate? Low pass, tuned filters....

** Try using a capacitor wired across each motor.

Start with a 100nF, 250 volt AC rated cap and increase the value as needed.

But that will not stop brushes burning.

When making a simple conversation in these threads, it's certainly not necessary to make every comment exactly under and in response to the person being commented to, get it? We could all see that Tam was responding to Victor suggesting he fix the problem that was causing the spikes, and we didn't need to see your lecture about exactly where in the thread he should have made his innocent post. In fact, it appears to me Tam was seconding to Victor your suggestion of placing a capacitor across the motor, and if so, his comment after your post was a good place for it. This is just usenet, after all, so please do kindly give it a rest. Sheesh!
