I don't think the various "express" distys sites give the same pricing as what we get when we ask the company for a quote. They will generally give better pricing when asked, especially if you have a "target price" to beat that you have been quoted elsewhere. Of course this is a tedious process if you just want a reel of 0805 2k2s... So you end up just using the disty that consistently gives the lowest initial price for most things.

Sure, their catalog is cheap. Their parts aren't. As I said, for prototyping, who cares? The production people do care and don't generally buy from DigiKey. They don't much care about the search engine either.
They also don't have the "value add" of a free lunch. ;-)

Maybe they just didn't want to spring for the price of a competent CGI script designer that would know how to do such a thing. ;-)

You think they can sort by power, gain, voltage, current but not manage price?
They presumably believe they will make more money by making it harder for the customer to find the cheapest solution. I recently started using Farnell just to do an initial "sort by price" - thinking I would probably buy from DK or elsewhere later. Instead I dicovered that they are now often better priced than DK, at least for in the UK.
Maybe you can make Excel functions that import data from websites and do it yourself.

I for one think that Digikey has better customer service, better selection, better web interface, more stuff in stock than Mouser.
But... I find that my Mouser orders outnumber Digikey orders by a factor of five or so.

Digikey web interface is better. The Digikey packaging of the parts is more compact then that of Mouser. However I am getting the regular shipments from Mouser on the next day whereas it takes a few days for Digikey. This is not a special favor; it happens just because of the geographical location. So I prefer Mouser.

That's part of it. It takes four days for UPS ground to get from Minnesota to me, but only three days from Texas to me.
Mouser often misses the promised same-day shipping but will often (not always) upgrade the shipping at no cost to me to get it into my hands on time.
