Difference Equalizer/Corrector

Hello everybody.

Trying to translate a text on transmission, which contains a phrase "...equalizer is a corrector". Equalizer and corrector translate to the same in German though. Is there a difference?

Only in the name, kinda like "telephone" and "fernsprecher". ;-)
