I'd be perfectly happy if it followed a course that served it rather better than the current trip towards hell in a hand-basket. Nobody anywhere around the world is going to be better off if the US wrecks it's own economy - and everybody else's - by continuing to run a huge trade deficit buying oil that can't afford, and burning the oil at a much greater rate than the planet's atmosphere can cope with.
If we can persuade you to look after your own interests rather more carefully, we'll all end up better off.

I suspect that the "deaths" that Jim is actually talking about were all "reported" enemy casualties. For a while the US applied a constant multiplier to the number of enemy corpses found, until some reporter noted that every body count was a multiple of that multiplier, after which they went through a phase of being prime numbers until that too was noticed, and somebody was issued with a table of random numbers.

Lots of people just have trouble linking cause and effect. So, they'll blame someone. Someone's evil, greedy or racist, probably. That's usually it, usually why "free everything" doesn't work.
