Paul, It's still happening, but it's filtered at the server end. The few that slip through are making it through clever wording in the subject line.
It may be against you TOS.. but that's really beside the point. To successfully cancel a post, you'd have to contact *all* of the nsp providers and gain their cooperation. Once a post propogates, it's out there.. for the world and beyond to see.
You can mash on that cancel button till the cows come home.. The next best thing you can do -if you don't want your stuff archived, is to put 'X-no-archive: yes' in your headers. That way, google won't archive your words of wisdom for the ages. Of course, that has absolutely no effect on the numerous other services that attempt to archive posts.

I doubt that there is any possible email system system that is less effective than what is in current use. I get spam with no sender name or domain name. That couldn't happen with a send/challenge/accept/receive system because the initial send couldn't be challenged, and would be dropped. It would also stop any forged headers. The receiving mail servers could also be configured to refuse mail from any sending mail server without a valid abuse@ address.

Or even Google, is someone replies to your post and fully quotes it. In the case where there is only one replier, and he edits your "quoted" original in an unfriendly way, you might with you had kept the original in the archive.

But the bureaucracy and enforcement effort would chip away at even more of our freedoms.

archived,
This is very true. I've been able to find some of my pre-blu posts that way. Once you've put it out there, it's out there.

Here is the content without the black-on-dark-gray idiocy (which you will see if you use a Gecko browser).
What ARE you like?
First you bombastically claim it can't be done, then when corrected try to suggest you knew it could but it's against ISP" TOS.
Now you pretend you know all about it.
The fact is ANYONE can cancel your wretched nonsense any time they feel like it.
i.e. you were plain wrong as per usual.

You can't cancel my post. There are enough servers out there that ignore your crap, that is will remain.
And it will still be there. Are you getting it yet, boy?
Try it, you won't succeed.
Much as it may hurt your pride they will not be available on any news server or archive that honors cancels.
Try searching for a cancelled message ID.
pick any one from control.cancel and see what happens.
Why should I want to that?
Crushing free speech and self-expression is the practice of netKKKops such as yourself. So many filter you out you are virtually invisible anyway, which is why you change your nyms.

Brandon: You're saying it's possible to cancel posts, correct? OK then. I will not whine, cry, go snivelling to your ISP/NSP, nor will I do anything but say "Kudos- well done" if you're able to cancel this post. It's a very curious thing.. I'd love to see it happen.

Rogue canceling is serious shit that I totally disapprove of.
Even though you might not report your post being cancelled ,sniveling sneaks and stool pigeons and toads such as Prongboi certainly would.
Maybe someone else will cancel it.
Brandon D Cartwright wrote in news: snipped-for-privacy@4ax.com:
As do I. I'm just curious if it can be done in the year 2007. It's been done to death, but it seems like that was another age.
You're right to cover your ass. I understand.
Maybe. I really don't think it can be done. We'll see.
