Typical ignorant remark: "racist" indeed. They're the *same* race as I am - but culturally a million miles apart. Now bugger off you wanker.

A dynamic mic should be a pretty low impedance source that needs a voltage amplifier. That much noise *will* get amplified.
But then, it's just audio.
The closed-loop output impedance of an op amp is a small fraction of an ohm, but you won't get maximum power transfer by hanging a 10-milliohm load on it. ;)
And noise matching != impedance matching in general.

The best mic amp is a transformer into a jfet. But a good, wideband, well shielded mic transformer is expensive.
It's easier to parallel jfets, sort of the same idea. But I suspect that the average garage band doesn't need super low noise levels. Mom's washing machine sets the noise floor.
Larkin is the one who asked about the mic specs and is not an Australian. Phil H is very capable of offering useful info whether or not he will deign to give it. Both of them have potential of being jerks, but if they offer assistance, it is silly not to take it. That could even become the basis of being better friends. Who knows, maybe the impression they give is not irrevocable?
Phil A. is pretty much beyond redemption, but if you don't want to interact with him you can always just let him interact with the others. Lots of good insight shows up in this group independent of the sources. Yup, there is no shortage of jerks here... and idiots... but many pearls are cast before swine.
Ok, here goes! Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!
Huh? Australians are a race? Oh, you're thinking he means aboriginal Australians...
