Car Radio issue - sound goes away, then comes back after a specific amount of time...

Hi,

I've got a 86 Nissan Stanza and when I turn the radio on, the music comes on. Then it will go off for a specific period of time, and then come back on for good. The period of time it is off seems to be growing. The radio itself looks fine during this music off time, display is good and still showing the tuned station. Any ideas of where I should start to figure this out?

Thanks,

Alan

Power antenna? Check the connections. Since it's a Nissan check the "delay timer" (controls the power antenna).

Hi Jim,

It has a manual antenna. I think (but I could be wrong) that the fault is something in the radio. I'll look at the service manual for the car and see if it shows any sort of time delay. If not that, what inside the radio would cause something like this?

Thanks,

Alan

Nothing you want to mess with. Car radios use some kind of black magick, and are virtually unrepairable. It'd be orders of magnitude easier, as well as cheaper, to just toss it and get a new radio.

And don't top-post.

Good Luck! Rich
