Boost converter question

Frequently, boost converters are specified e.g., "5 - 15" DC. What is the type of load ? If it is capacitive, then it is fine, but not otherwise. Is it fair to say that the boost converter is meant for capacitive loads only ?

Presumably it is primarily resistive.

Probably not. But if you would point out what sort of load you have in mind and ask what might happen with that sort of load, it may help to answer your question.

Thinking out loud here (which can lead to a brain fart), if the boost is discontinuous, do you really care about the load? Certainly resistive and/or capacitive loads should be fine. I'd have to think about the effect of an inductive load.

Seems to me you would need to be more specific about the boost scheme used.

Maybe its time for a sci.electronics.schoolwork newsgroup.

Might as well add:

sci.electronics.agw sci.electronics.antiamerican.bigots sci.electronics.guns sci.electronics.idiots sci.electronics.politics sci.electronics.trolls

While we're at it.

Or, collectively, sci.electronics.village_idiots_and_Slowman_emulators ...Jim Thompson

news:sci.electronics.idiots would do. I think there is a limit to the length of newsgroup names.
