board bring up

May 25, 2006 1 Replies

I was wondering if anyone had a list of things to check for when they first get a new board back from fab? such as

  1. Visual Inspection Parts orientation. Parts off pads. Parts missing. what else?

  1. Shorts Ohm out Power to Ground

  2. Power up board Check out voltages

etc What else?

Thanks in advance.

To avoid unpleasant burning smells, and to get an immediate indication of catastrophic failure, set the current limit on the variable power supply to just above the expected requirement.

If the board is dead even though the DC voltages are OK, check for non-oscillating crystals first.

You should consider having the boards tested before they are stuffed.
