That is not funny. It is usually small children who sneak into the pool and drown.

So tell her I have complained! I do not have a conventional taste, but there are too many small "faux-pas" on these pages. They look like 6yrs. old. Today it is more appropriate to not use buttons but roll-over text only. All the Photos should be in a crisp look and when clicked a high resolution pic should pop up. Why should I continuously scroll up and down because the text is only 1/3rd of my screenwidth and in this awful font. Maybe it is because here in Italy we appreciate a proper and cute outfit and we hate the Germans in their jogging dress going shopping. IMHO as much as the page has served for so long, it is now time for a more professional looking website, done by a professional web designer.

Both the Infineon and ST websites are great examples of how not to do it.

Full marks to Philips and TI imho. On Semi's ok too as is AD's site. IR's ok but don't expect any support. Motorola used to be good but since it became Freescale ( and who does the small linear stuff now - Fairchild ? ) I've lost interest.

Funny how it goes round. I suggested Dell about 8-10 yrs back to my client since the Compaqs they had were a little 'temperamental'.

Maybe time to reverse that decision ?

I don't have taste at all. Don't approve of it.

I wear cheap jeans, a t-shirt, and $7 Chinese velcro shoes to work. Maybe a baseball cap if it's drizzly. Company policy requires shirts and shoes, socks optional.

Maybe it is because here in the USA we appreciate great electronics.

There are periodic attempts by the fashion industry to get American guys to buy stylish clothes, cosmetics, scents, skin-care products, purses, stuff like that. Guys with this look are called "metrosexuals", meaning stylish fashion-victim straight guys, almost gay but not quite. It never works; American guys like to shop at Wal-Mart and look like lumberjacks.

You wouldn't like it here.

That may not be logical engineering analysis. Since it's sold tens of megabucks of stuff, and sales are increasing, why mess with success?

Actually, I wouldn't mind if a few things were tweaked, especially the fixed pixel size, but we're just too busy designing and shipping stuff and moving to a new building.

The guys I work with at monstavision put together high-end video servers for their screens, and are M$ agents (or whatever its called, pimps?) too, so cheap OS for Terry :)

And when I have a problem, Mike fixes it for me - often by telling me exactly what to type. At one stage he froze a dead HDD to unstick the platter, and saved my ass big time.

PS I think your website is great, for exactly the reasons you mention. And just because I have ADSL doesnt mean its fast. It bugs the s*it out of me when websites have to download terabytes (OK, im exaggerating) of graphics before you can click a button.

Each reasonable operating system defines maximum lengths of such things as filenames, which are documented and accessible through header files. If IE violates these constraints it's IE's fault. More likely, however, the CD burning software doesn't check if the MS-legal filenames violate the ISO9660 constraints. There is no need for the MS software to warn about anything that's perfectly legal by the OS standards.

I went to a custom-wetsuit shop last week to buy some thick rubber material. I was wearing what I thought was appropriate for work - tropical-print shirt, clean jeans, Bass loafers, black socks. The owner (dressed in a tee shirt and torn denim cutoff shorts) said "You must work someplace casual".
