Bellcore DTMF talk-off test tapes

Mar 03, 2005 3 Replies

Hello, I'm working on testing a DTMF detector implemented in an FPGA. Bellcore (formerly AT&T?) used to sell talk-off test tapes to test DTMF decoder. However, they don't sell them anymore. Even worse, the rumour is the master tapes where lost. I tried to contact the current owners of the Bellcore material, but got no response. Is there someone willing to provide me with a copy or sell the original tapes?

You may have better luck finding the Mitel version (CM 7291). I did a little digging, but couldn't find either. However, lots of people still refer to it (them) so there MUST be someplace to get it. I'll bet there's even a .wav file available, somewhere.

I used to use the ATT tape. I should have kept a copy.

I'll keep looking, and I'll let you know if I find either.

I was able to find this:

Zarlink (apparently) took over some of the Mitel telecom semiconductor products. Although their talk-off tape is listed as "obsolete", I'll bet if you call them they can give you a better idea if this can be obtained, or if there's a suitable replacement.

Good luck.

Thank you. I also found some references to the Mitel tape, but no product number. I will give Zarlink a call.
