I stole the subject line, because I thought it was funny :-) I'm sure others will be offended.

What do you expect, with all those rooftop solar cells sucking power out of the sun?

Auntie Socialist had this tongue in cheek theory. "Well, with all those greenhouse gases on Earth absorbing more sunlight and reflecting less back towards the sun, that would have a cooling effect on the sun, right?"

Damn weather,

Not really.

Solar cycle 24 is actually fairly similar to that of 1928 and only very slightly lower than that of cycle 20 in 1970. Curiously the pattern of recent cycles looks to me rather similar to those of cycles 1,2,3,4 matching 20,21,22,23 including the slow decay inflexion of the latter.

(early data cycle 1 at 1760 has a lot of points missing)

There is an element of truth in the observation that the sunspot cycle modulates both solar luminosity and the weather on Earth. It was first noticed by Herschel in the price of wheat (he didn't get a favourable reception to this idea).

And there is an observable modulation of solar output with the sunspot cycle with the active sun with many sunspots normally being brighter. The bad news is that satellite observed changes of 0.1% in luminosity are insufficient to explain these changes unless you include feedback...

There is serious work in progress to correlate terrestrial TSI with the position of the solar system barycentre, lunation and other orbital elements (mostly dominated by the locations of the gas giants). eg.
