Alternate drives for Eddy current motors.

I our location, we still have many eddy current motor's in use. This morning, one of them had a minor motor short that worked it's way to the brake and caused some high voltage to leak back into the drive causing it to burn up! if the Motor was properly grounded, this would not have happened.. in any case, damage was done.

Well, now the next story, we have no more Drives in house, nor do we have time to fix any... this was a HOT!!!!!!!! machine and had to be running!... So solution!!... and they all got a chuckle out of this one. used a KB regen drive to operate the clutch and brake along with feed back options.. After a few hours of fast hacking work using a couple of DIODES to split the signal between the brake and clutch on the output with a load R on both sides, i had that baby running just as smooth as it ever did!.. They were not chuckling at me afterwards!..

It's a amazing what a little ingenuity will do for you, when you're in a jam!

So, you either did, or had, a shoddy installation that was allowed to fail, then you do a half assed patch and want a pat on the back?
