The social aspect of that wall was a problem for me. I am pretty tolerant to smoke but since nearly every engineer there smokes cigarettes the stench and the coughing was a bit much. And the air quality in Seoul isn't exactly stellar to begin with.

Social Engineering is a trap. It doesn't work, and(because) it requires coercion.

The Free Market is the proper solution to prices.

Thanks, Rich

Wait a sec - which kind of "social engineering" are we talking about here? A bunch of engineers being social, or da Gubmint telling people what price they're allowed to get for their products? ;-)

Thanks, Rich

This was South Korea, meaning free market. No gubmint telling anyone what to charge for their products ;-)

Hm. I'm just before the point to say "yes". But that is not the whole story.

IIRC Germany has many, many restrictions both on trade and on employment.

Yes, but is simpler to go thru the border to have a nice visit to black forest. Even US citizens are (mostly) welcome.

Yes. I use to go regularly to Bühlertal (for a chip design for Bosch).

First time there I came thru from Switzerland... no more impediment at the border than that of Arizona-California and the "fruit stand" ;-)

IME going through the border to/from Northern Ireland was easier than going thru the US-Canada border - and that is getting worse.

I had to show my passport to a guard at the Swiss/German border, but it was a "glance-at-it-wave-you-thru" kind of thing.

I've always showed my passport in/out of Canaduh. I have to grant them that they have the rudest border agents I have ever encountered, and use unseemly fat broads for agents ;-)

Heh! The guy that wears Fred Merts pants, sniveling about "fat broads".

Can you say "Pot", "Kettle", "Black"? ;-)

Actually, you only need the passport to come home, and then only if=20 by air. No passport needed if you drive (at least until next=20 year).
