I like this series which comes in a version where the electrical contacts are somewhat "sunk" for less of a chance of shorting agains a box or lid:

A "standard wall box" which is part of a home wiring system contains only wires and a few safety-approved accessories. For heat buildup reasons, other items (like a doorbell transformer) usually go OUTSIDE the box, if it's part of a building (and has to meet building codes). If your box is inside a desk or cabinet, it's not covered by the building code, just 'appliance safety' and common sense.
