Custom Potentiometers in Small Lots?

I am looking for a manufacturer to make custom slide pots of given physical dimensions in a variety of values and tapers. I have written to various makers and gotten no replies. Does anyone know where an individual with some money to spend could have custom parts made? I do not represent a company or corporation, so perhaps that is why I am getting no attention. If anyone knows a source of custom manufacturing in relatively smaller lots (say under 5000 pcs), I would appreciate the info.

thanks,

Dave

May I suggest you stick with what's in the catalogue ?

What's so special about what you want anyway ?

Hi Graham,

If I could find something in "the catalog" that replaced the parts I need to replace, I would be overjoyed. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong catalogs. The parts I have are 30+ years old, made in Mexico by CTS and used in vintage analog synthesizers. Essentially, they need to be a more or less exact fit replacement. I don't even need the whole pot made up, because the carbon track is replaceable so even if I could find replacement resistance tracks I would be happy :-)

I suspect I know the type you mean. It's not actually very popular any more. Modern pots are smaller but it is at least a 'generic' type.

What's the diameter of the body (in mm please ! ) and what track resistances / laws are you looking for ?

Do you recognise it here btw ?

Hi Graham,

The pots I am looking for are slide pots, so I'm not sure if you had the right thing in mind (you had asked for a diameter). I am looking for the following values:

1K Linear 1 Meg Log 100K Linear 100K Log

The slide travel is approx. 45mm

The closest part I could find in current manufacture was an Alpha pot, part number RA4520F-10-20D1-B13 available from mouser.com as 312-9201F-1K, however these come in linear only and would require some retrofitting to the original layout.

There are some pics of the pots I am looking for in the photo album on my ARP page at:

The pots made by CTS currently are not the right dimensions or values.

thanks,

Dave
