which means that the tip does not have sufficent Thermal capacity to melt solder immediatly which results in thermal damage to components - having to hold the tip on the joint for longer.

Provided the appropriately called 'tool is not actually in contact with a soldered joint at the time (like we said with no thermal capacity it can heat up very quickly - to heat up a solder joint OTOH takes as long as a normal soldering iron to heat up i.e. 30 Seconds by which time the component is completely stuffed)

I've known people to get over 1200 joints from a single $2.00 cigarette lighter. ;o)
