As extracting solar energy is expensive & the maintainance cost also is too high, what will be the future of solar projects when compared to other renewable energy sources like wind energy etc.

Many areas which do not have *dependable* wind power, do have dependable sun power for most of the year. Costs of solar hardware will drop considerably.

One hopes. Nanosolar is being very tight lipped.
OTOH, if you live on the coast, sea breezes make wind turbines an excellent idea. Just don't expect much power at roof level. They need to be a good 25m /
