Anyone who has tried to run a proper live show from stock WLED knows the built-in effect list runs out fast once you want performance-style control. This feature set attacks that gap directly: it pushes VJ-style looks from a computer out to connected devices, and it is generally aimed at large or dense LED matrices.
How it is put together is what stands out to me. A locally hosted web page serves as the control interface, and three decks handle the looks, with cuts, fades and wipes landing on the music's bars. Users can reach the standard WLED effects, the maker's own custom effects, or build new ones, and MilkDrop presets or Shadertoy code can be imported. Captions describe parameter modulation that follows the beat, plus preset mutations driven by the audio, and to my mind that is the heart of the whole thing.
The demo runs on a simulated canvas of 114 by 64 pixels, mapping a 16:9 canvas onto a flat matrix of the same size. Preset banks currently go up to an 8x8 grid, and I like that banks can change mid-show without disturbing what is playing. Presets such as Kaleido Tunnel and Beat Rings appear among the examples, and the maker has added more fractal flames along with extra control parameters.
There are open ends, honestly declared: the mobile web UI has not been polished much yet, no demo exists for the video streaming feature, and whether custom firmware will be needed for deeper WLED web UI integration is still undecided. MIDI support and audio reactivity could open the door to live performances, and the next release should bring buttons, faders and knobs that are fully customizable.
