I want to create /dev/log for syslogd.
My filesystem is partly ROM and partly RAM using genromfs to create the
file system, and then after booting I mount some branches as tmpfs.
Everything in the /dev directory are part of the ROM filing system.
What is /dev/log ? is this socket created on the fly by linux or can I
create it in my ROM filing system ? If so how ?

Re: How to create /dev/log ?

I'm thinking it depends on the used module by/for the "log" device. Newer
modules may useses dyn. dev-node creation, old modulues not, the need an
existing node with propper defined major id. Bu you could cread this
dev-node always by hand.
I hope I'm right :)
