How can I silence a Samsonite travel alarm clock?

I would guess the piezo element is also used for the alarm sound; thus no.

Maybe shorting the "light" button? It keeps the display on and should not beep anymore??

And then that drains the battery.

Also, some of those backlights can be terribly bright. And if you're trying to sleep, you don't want that.

I use a Delco digitally tuned car radio as my bedside radio, and I had to add a switch to blank the display when I didn't need it, because it fairly lit up the room when the lights were off, and it was bothersome enough to keep me awake.

Assuming the above is true, you might be able to replace the light button with a two pole switch set up with one NC contact and one NO contact. The NO terminals go to where the light switch is now connected. The NC contacts need to break before the NO contact makes, and would be wired in series with the piezo beeper. As long as the beep is short, and goes away before you get your finger off the button, this should actually work.

It may be hard to do all this hacking if this is all built on one circuit board. I'm sure a bunch of us dedicated hardware hackers could do it, but I don't know cawatk's level of micro-surgical skills. But, it likely would involve tracing circuit board tracks and cutting a few of them.

Kind of stupid of the clock's designer to make the light button beep to confirm contact closure. You can see the light, so you know you got the button to register your pressing it.
