Can someone explain how you would take a line level audio signal and conver it to resistance in the range of 0 - 1 MOhm? Any help appreciated...

Three things come to mind - the last two are to amplify it and drive a servo motor connected to a 1MOhm pot, the other to run it into a A/D converter and then use that to drive a digital potentiometer IC. The first thing is what are you trying to achieve?

I basically want to control a video game (the paddle controls are 1 MOhm pots connected to 5V DC) with my stereo. See "paddles"

I don't think it has to be zero ohms exactly but a low amount.
Can you direct me to a legend for your ASCII diagram?

AUDIO> is positive or ground or both? [C} is capacitor? how much? [R] is resistor? how much? what is [LDR] ? is this a light sensor ? [LDR] has 2 outputs, do these go to the +5v and gnd of the paddle? What is the [POT] between Gnd and Vcc? Is this to adjust the gain of the audio driving the LED? What is Vcc?
