adjustable switching power supply

I'm interested in an adjustable switching power supply for use with some peltier TECs to use in conjunction with a temperature sensor in order to avoid abrupt cycling. If anyone has pointers to a (hopefully affordable) setup that can provide up to 6 or 7 amps at 12 to 15 VDC from a 120VAC source, I'd appreciate it.

I've thought of regular adjustable regulators, but adding the inefficiencies of the step-down transformer, the inefficiencies of the regulator, and the inefficiencies of the TECs makes it just a bit distasteful. ; )

You would have to get the schematic for your supply. Take a look at how they do the feedback sensing for the regulation. The problem here is that there may be many complications in doing this. Most of the main outputs of the supply also use added fixed regulators, that are part of the feedback sense. This is going to add more to the complexity for what you want to do. The way I have seen this done in the industry, is to use an adjustable regulator after the supply output. This leaves the switching supply more stable, and dependable, as per how it was designed. An external adjustable regulator is probably going to be the most cost effective way to do this.
