So the ends self align and interlock, it's not that hard to do.

Yeah, I'm looking at that, and not only do I have questions about tolerances causing some batteries to not make contact, I'd also worry about those two terminals on one end shorting out.

The battery holders I've used have always had a big-ass spring on the negative end.
