ALPS switches

I am building a test fixture for a new board I have designed and wanted to give it a UI. Part of this is a joystick switch that I thought might be useful. I picked a part from Mouser, the RKJXS1004001, made by ALPS. I missed the fact that the data sheet does not contain a footprint or even enough dimensional data to construct your own.

I have tried to contact ALPS, but they have ignored my emails. I wrote Mouser and after a few days was sent a copy of a fax from ALPS that is a check list of how not to mount their devices!

This is seriously lame. Has anyone used this part before? Has anyone dealt with ALPS before? Are they one of those unresponsive companies that only want the really large volume customers?

YES, IME, at least for non-domestic (ie. non-Japanese) customers. Best regards, Spehro Pefhany
